John Mark S. Borbon, coordinator for Community Extension and Services Office (CESO), has been selected to participate in the prestigious Switch On Youth Camp for Clean Energy Transition organized by the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) Youth Philippines. This highly competitive program brings together young changemakers from across the country who are passionate about addressing climate change and promoting sustainable energy solutions. Borbon’s selection underscores their commitment to environmental advocacy and their potential to lead future initiatives toward a cleaner, more sustainable Philippines.
The Switch On Youth Camp, held in Dumaguete City, was designed to raise awareness and equip participants with the knowledge and skills needed to drive clean energy initiatives in their communities. Through a series of workshops, lectures, and hands-on activities, the participants explored practical renewable energy solutions such as solar, wind, and hydro power. They also engaged in collaborative discussions on how to create sustainable energy plans tailored to local needs.
By joining this initiative, Borbon has demonstrated its commitment to sustainable development and youth empowerment. The town’s active participation highlights the role of local communities in the national movement towards a cleaner, greener future. With its youth now educated and motivated to lead the charge for renewable energy, Borbon stands as an example of how grassroots involvement can contribute to the global efforts to combat climate change, in alignment with the UN’s vision for sustainable energy transition.
