Sustainable Procurement Policy
POLICY STATEMENT
WCC is committed to promoting sustainability in all aspects of our operations. Our Sustainable Procurement Policy aims to integrate environmental, social, and economic considerations into our purchasing decisions. Responsible sourcing and procurement practices can contribute to a healthier planet and a sustainable future for all.
PURPOSE
This policy seeks to establish a structure for procurement decisions that emphasize sustainability, promote the efficient use of resources, and encourage ethical practices within the supply chain.
SCOPE
This policy applies to all procurement activities undertaken by WCC, including the acquisition of goods, services, and works.
PRINCIPLES
WCC commits to the following principles in its procurement activities:
Environmental Sustainability: We prioritize products and services that minimize environmental impact, including those that are energy-efficient, made from renewable resources, or have a reduced carbon footprint.
Social Responsibility: We support suppliers who adhere to fair labor practices, promote diversity and inclusion, and contribute positively to their communities.
Economic Efficiency: We ensure that procurement decisions provide the best value for money, considering the total cost of ownership and lifecycle costs.
IMPLEMENTATION
We incorporate sustainability criteria into the supplier selection process, evaluating potential suppliers on their environmental and social performance. We also implement a Supplier Code of Conduct outlining expectations for sustainability practices, ethical conduct, and compliance with labor laws.
We create and maintain a list of preferred sustainable products and suppliers that align with our sustainability criteria.
We regularly assess and monitor supplier performance based on sustainability criteria and provide feedback to promote continuous improvement.
REVIEW AND UPDATE
The Procurement office reviews this sustainable procurement policy annually to ensure alignment with the institution’s goals and the evolving landscape of sustainability. Necessary amendments are communicated to all staff and stakeholders to maintain engagement and compliance.
